Immigration is a big topic in the national news, where a lot of people have opinions about it. Some of those opinions are unnecessarily negative, but if you would like to find a positive international community that is very open to immigration and helpful with the immigration process, then you should try to move to New York City. New York City is notorious for being a very helpful place for people who are interested in immigration issues. The city has a lot of resources that other places do not have access to. I have a lot of friends who have tried hard to find an inviting immigration community in other cities, and they have told me that it is nearly impossible to find a place that meets the positive expectations that New York City created.
First of all, New York City is just a large city that everyone had heard of, so when people from other countries are trying to figure out where to move to in the United States, they tend to gravitate towards places they have heard of. It is more likely for someone to meet other people that they know or have common interests with in a big city that is very popular in other countries than a place that no one has heard of. Some people are afraid that they will not be able to find anyone to relate to their immigration issues unless they move to a huge metropolis like New York City. You can much easier find the ingredient to traditional recipes or events that celebrate the holidays you are familiar with if you live in a big city than if you take your chances on a smaller city that no one has ever heard of. If you already have family and friends that live in a smaller place, then that would be acceptable, but if you are moving to another country by yourself without any contacts, then I would suggest a bigger city where it will be easier to meet new people who might be in a similar situation.
